![]() ![]() Geekscape: How has it been, making the movie under Sony? Have they been supportive of your ideas and the crew? Kobayashi: So, this one takes place right after the game Resident Evil 6. Geekscape: Exactly where in the Resident Evil timeline does this take place? Is this in between any of the games or does it have its own separate continuity? We really wanted a good balance of horror and action, and I feel we succeeded on that too. Kobayashi: For me, I really wanted the movie to be able to tell a story without knowing the background stories of any of the characters, and I think we succeeded in that, and I’m fond of that. Geekscape: Which part of the movies has been your favorite part to develop? You talked about being able to develop the characters further, what has been your favorite part? ![]() Kobayashi: In the video games, the focus is more on playing the games, so you can’t easily develop deeper characters or deeper stories, but in the movie, we’re very happy to be able to show more of the backstory of the three main characters, and the drama among these people. What made you guys choose to tell these stories in film instead of a video game format? Geekscape: So, the Resident Evil animated movies have been a little different from the games. We talk about the differences between making a Resident Evil film versus the games, and what those differences mean for creators.
